A review of ChicCanvas.com photo to canvas printing service

The proverb says that The shoemaker's son always goes barefoot and it is much the case with myself and photography prints. I have been researching canvas prints for a while and finally commited for a couple at ChicCanvas.com.

They are currently running a "buy one at full price and get the second one at 50% off" deal, which is very competitevily priced. I ordered two 24"x36" prints to hang in the bedroom and went with the run of the mill configuration for the print - 1.5" thick and gallery wrapped (the image wraps around the corners).

chic canvas packaging

ChicCanvas.com online process is simple, quick, and easy. I got a preview of my uploaded images, did not have to sign in to get the process started, and had my order placed in less than 5 minutes. Tracking information came 5 days later (weekend included) via FedEx, for which I have opted to pay $15.00. There were quicker shipping methods, but frankly I couldn't care less; it's not like your ordering bull testosterona that you needed yesterday to make your quads would look fantastic in time for the competition.

I don't know where that came from, I apologise. Anyway, the package arrived in yet another 5 days since the business is located in California and I'm a windy-frekishly-frozen-cold-city person myself. I was sincerely impressed by the size of the box and the quality of packaging used. The two canvases were individually covered by plastic bags, bubble wrapped, had large pieces of carton covering both sides and secured with tape so they wouldnt' shuffle or move during shipping.

After an intense wrestling session with the box and a vile taste of adhesive in my mouth, I had the prints out and was inspecting the quality. One of the photos was a little soft but that was mainly due to my narrow depth of field and inability to see crap through the viewfinder, the other was perfectly crips and looked fantastic for a 12MP source (Shot with a canon 5d Mark I).

The prints come with nice hooks and hanging rope attached, have a little logo of ChicCanvas on the back and are mounted on white pieces of wood. One weights around five pounds, so the hanging options are practically a non-issue. I am pleased with the service and the quality of the prints. It will be interesting to compare them to the print I have just ordered from CanvasOnDemand.com.
